About Me

How to Prevent Pest Problems It is always better to prevent a problem before it occurs, rather than having to solve it later. This is especially true when it comes to pest control. When I called in a local pest control company to deal with an infestation of termites, I asked them to give me all of their best advice about how to prevent pest problems. The contractors gave me lots of useful info about the steps I can take to deter a range of different pests from setting up home in my property. I hope you find the articles I have published here useful.

Wasps and hornets are aggressive insects. Though not commonly considered pests, these stinging insects can affect your business in many different ways. For example, customers may avoid a restaurant that has wasps buzzing around their meals. Retail stores with hidden hives may also end up having their customers stung, which could potentially lay grounds for a lawsuit. This is why you should have a plan in place to control wasps and hornets in your commercial premises. Most people don't find out that they have an infestation until something happens (such as when a guest or employee gets stung).

To take a proactive approach against wasps, here are specific steps you should keep in mind for your business.

1.    Seal cracks and crevices

Small cracks and crevices are common access points for stinging pests. In fact, hornets and wasps love these areas because they can form nests and lay eggs in peace. And, once they need food for their young ones, they'll come out of hiding and buzz around in your business.

You can prevent insect infestations by sealing small cracks and crevices. Have a pest control service inspect these areas for nests or eggs, and seal them as soon as they've been cleared.

2.    Control outside vegetation

Trees and shrubs are another common breeding ground for insects. If you have an outdoor space (such as a patio for your restaurant), make sure the vegetation nearby is kept under control.

Wasps and hornets build nests inside dense branches and shrubs where the queen won't be disturbed. By trimming outdoor vegetation and spraying insecticides, you can control insect breeding and prevent your customers from being stung.

3.    Keep your business clean

Dark and dirty areas of your business can also be used by pests as breeding grounds. For example, the back of kitchen appliances, storage rooms, and cabinets allow insects to hide and breed. They will then come out to look for food and may end up stinging employees or guests.

Keeping your business clean is the easiest way of avoiding these concerns. Keep hidden corners and storage areas as clean as possible. You should also avoid clutter as it makes maintenance harder.

4.    Schedule regular pest inspections

Finally, don't forget to have a pest control service inspect your business. Pest companies know how to locate and get rid of wasps, hornets, and their nests. They can also safely prevent future infestations from occurring, which means that you can ensure the safety of your customers and workers.
